Philipp joined Google in 2005 and oversees the company’s Global Sales & Operations, which includes all of Google’s small, medium and large advertising customers, the enterprise (Google for Work) business, the global technical and consumer operations team, and the product sales strategy and operations teams across all of Google’s monetization products. He also leads all global Android and Chrome partnerships with OEM, Retailer, and Carrier partners. He previously ran Google’s business in Northern and Central Europe, based in London, and before that, Google’s business in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Nordics, based in Hamburg.
Before Google, Philipp was a Senior Vice President and management board member at AOL Germany, responsible for the company’s marketing and sales activities, including direct marketing, traditional brand marketing, customer relationship management, business intelligence and pricing. It was in this role that Philipp won the Golden Effie as well as several other industry awards.
Before AOL, Philipp served as head of marketing at CompuServe in Germany and was part of the top junior talent program of Bertelsmann AG, where he focused on new media activities within their global corporate strategy unit.
Philipp holds a Diplom Kaufmann degree with distinction from Germany’s European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany and is a scholar of the “Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes”. He has been recognized as one of WSJ’s Top 25 European Technology Leaders (2011), one of Germany’s top 10 leaders under 40 by Capital Magazine (2009) and as Germany’s Most Influential Media Personality by W&V (2006). He currently lives in Menlo Park, California with his wife and 3 kids.
